POSITION SUMMARY

The Sales and Marketing Director is a highly hands-on role requiring detail-oriented skill in direct operational activities (managing contact lists, communicating with university administrators, scheduling meetings, organizing follow-up activities, etc.) in addition to providing leadership in the development and execution of strategic marketing, communications, sales, and business development plans for the company.  

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

  • This is a fully remote position. Must be based in the United States (client contracts limit data that can leave the US). Conference travel may be required.
  • Salary is $65,000 – $90,000.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate qualified opportunities through outbound emails and calls
  • Schedule qualified demo appointments
  • Identify, qualify, and follow-up with new leads based on research and contact lists produced from marketing and lead generation campaigns
  • Clean and manage contact lists, including opt-out lists, across multiple systems (specifically HubSpot)
  • Develop and implement sales, marketing, and communications activities to develop and maintain programs that retain existing clients and attract new clients
  • Develop and implement sales plan, marketing plan, and branding strategy in support of organizational strategy and objectives
  • Enhance and strengthen the organization’s engagement with multiple audiences, including current and potential clients and partnering companies
  • Advise company executives to develop and implement strategies to optimize organizational structure, processes, and people to support business objectives
  • Establish a strategic operating plan, budget, and timelines for sales, marketing, communications, and client support activities
  • Stay up-to-date on market conditions and competitors to develop innovative approaches and enhancements to the current sales and marketing strategy
  • Build rapport with clients to explore and anticipate needs, anticipate and develop new opportunities, and maintain credibility and trust through interaction and demonstration of a strong understanding of clients’ operational needs and strategic directions
  • Perform other work-related duties as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience and a demonstrated track record of accomplishments
  • Bachelor’s degree required (master’s or higher preferred)
  • Strong communication skills, professional email demeanor, and an ability to build rapport with others

  • Experience with CRM (HubSpot preferred) to manage contacts and maintain notes and lists
  • Experience in SaaS sales to higher education a plus
  • Experience with hosted newsletter and email services (Constant Contact preferred)
  • Must have good judgment and be capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals
  • Must have strong customer support orientation (for internal/external customers), demonstrated professional demeanor, and the ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to balance client needs and organizational priorities
  • Must work effectively with senior-level executives and staff; must also be able to work independently
  • Excellent computer skills including all MS Office applications, marketing software (Adobe Creative Suite & CRM), and applications (Web analytics, Google AdWords, etc.)
